Gratis Man Succumbs At Wheel Of His Car
John Wesley Glaze, 79 of Gratis died Monday afternoon at the wheel of his automobile, parked at his home. Dr. G.W. Flory, Preble county coroner pronounced death due to a heart attack.
Mr. Glaze had stopped the car after backing it from the garage.

Heart Attack Fatal To Gratis Resident
John Wesley Glaze, 79 - year -old Gratis man, died of a heat attack as he backed his car out of his garage in that village Monday afternoon. Neighbors said they found him slumped behind the wheel of his car, shortly after the fatal attack.
County Coroner, Dr. G.W. Flory, returned a verdict of death because of a heart attack. Mr. Glaze, a retired farmer, was a member of the Methodist church in Gratis.
Only survivors are nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church , with Rev. Crick officiating. Friends may call the Zimmerman Funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
John Wesley Glaze was born September 19, 1870 in Gratis township and departed this life suddenly in Gratis, January 2, 1950, having reached the age of 79 years, 3 months and 23 days.
He was next to the youngest of seven children, born to John and Laura Neff Glaze, and was the last to survive.
On October 25, 1891 he was united in marriage with Sarah Jane Coleman. In 1916 both united with the Lord in joining the Methodist church. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1941. The beloved wife departed this life February 26, 1946 and Mr. Glaze appeared never to have recovered from the shock of losing her. He is survived by a number of nephews and nieces and more distant relatives.
During his active years he was engaged in farming and was a loved and respected neighbor and citizen.
The family wishes to thank all the neighbors and friends for their sympathetic interest and care during the last years of his life.
